Plater/Electroplater

$18.00 – $30.00 per hour

Metal Finishing Company is seeking to hire an experienced plater. We are expanding our production, and we are looking to hire one experienced plater with a strong work ethic, solid references, and a good technical understanding of electroplating.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS ON-THE-LINE ELECTROPLATING EXPERIENCE. You must be knowledgeable of plating processes on aluminum, including electroless nickel, gold etc. We are looking for plating operators/technicians with a solid understanding of electroplating theory, uniform thickness of deposits, current density, ASF, etc.

The ideal candidate should also know how to run their own calculations ASF to determine the thickness of the electroplated layer deposited on the object, determined by the time of plating, and the amount of available metal ions in the bath relative to current density.

Shipping & Logistics Coordinator

$36,400 to $45,500/year depending on work experience

Reports to: Director of Planning
Working Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime may be required)

Job Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1–2 years in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment (preferred)
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient with computers, desk phones, calculators, and weigh scales
    • Basic math competency
    • Familiar with software such as ERP Systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, email platforms, and major shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL)
  • Certifications/Equipment Handling:
    • Forklift operation experience
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Reliable transportation to and from work
    • Strong communication skills
    • Self-motivated and dependable with a proactive, team-oriented mindset
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities

Key Responsibilities

Shipping & Delivery Operations

  • Ensure accurate and timely pickups and deliveries including:
    • San Diego, Los Angeles, and other non-California customers
    • Maintain a record of missed SPI pickups and deliveries
    • Provide support to company drivers (routes, paperwork, etc.)
    • Coordinate with shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, and ground services)

Shipping Documentation

  • Organize and process all order acknowledgments by job number
  • Generate and compile necessary documentation:
    • Packing Lists
    • Certificates of Conformance (C-of-C)
    • X-Ray/Thickness Verification Reports
  • Perform 5-way document matching:
    • Shop Traveler
    • Order Acknowledgment
    • Packing List
    • C-of-C
    • X-Ray/Thickness Reports
  • Forward completed shipping documents to SPI Accounting
  • Clearly mark any partial shipments, test pieces, or missing items
  • Ensure all SPI driver paperwork is ready by 7:30 AM daily

Warehouse & Logistics Support

  • Operate forklift to move and organize customer parts
  • Assist with implementation and adherence to best packaging practices
  • Participate in and support SPI Quality Programs (e.g., NadCap, ISO, ITAR)

Additional Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping area
  • Support loading/unloading of trucks
  • Assist Receiving, Production, and Inspection departments as needed
  • Make local deliveries as required
  • Carry out other duties and projects assigned by management

Final Inspection Support Technician

Reports To: Quality Engineer and Director of Quality
Shift: Day Shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM or 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Position Type: Full-Time, Entry-Level

Position Summary:

The Final Inspection Support Technician provides hands-on support to the Final Inspection Department in a plating manufacturing environment. This entry-level role is responsible for preparing plated parts for shipment, assisting with inspections, and maintaining cleanliness and quality standards throughout the process. All the necessary training will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Remove parts from plating racks or wires following plating process
  • Baking, packaging, and prepare parts for shipment
  • Move parts from the Final Inspection area to the Shipping Department
  • Assist with cleaning of parts, including:
    • Use of chemical cleaners (e.g., ammonia, MEK)
    • Mechanical cleaning (e.g., Scotch-Brite pads, lapping paper)
  • Perform glass bead blasting as required
  • Support the wiring department when needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
  • Follow all safety and quality protocols as directed

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Hand tools (e.g., wire cutters)
  • Occasional use of electric or manual screwdrivers
  • Chemical cleaning agents (handled with appropriate PPE and training)
  • Glass bead blaster
  • Lifting equipment or team assistance as required

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting up to 20 lbs
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs (with assistance if needed – negotiable)
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and manual handling of small components
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience required
  • Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and mechanical tools (training provided)
  • Good attention to detail and ability to handle small parts carefully
  • Reliable and punctual work habits
